In separate messages addressed to the leaders of Islamic countries on Saturday, the President expressed hope that effective steps would be taken to strengthen the unity and integrity of the Islamic Ummah, especially in the face of divisive currents and Takfiri terrorism.
He added: “Thanks to the blessed month of Ramadan, which has mercy and forgiveness, and with the joint efforts of Islamic leaders and intellectuals and by emphasizing the growing cohesion and solidarity between Muslim nations, such a goal can be achieved.”
The Iranian president also expressed hope that the world, and especially Palestine, would see the elimination of oppression and injustice and the establishment of peace and security.
Ayatollah Khamenei, the Supreme Leader of the Islamic Revolution, declared Sunday, April 4, the first day of the holy month of Ramadan in Iran.
The beginning of the fasting month of Ramadan is determined by both lunar calculations and the physical observation of the new month.
During Ramadan, Muslims abstain from eating and drinking from morning until evening, gather in mosques for prayers, and traditionally break their fast in mosque gatherings or with family and friends in the evening.
Different countries have created their own methods for announcing the first day of the holy month of Ramadan.
