Iran Blasts Unilateral Sanctions against Russia
Tehran - Sahand Azadi News Agency - Iranian Foreign Minister Hossein Amir-Abdollahian, in a meeting with her Russian counterpart Sergei Lavrov in China, said that the Islamic Republic of Iran is strongly opposed to unilateral Western sanctions against Russia.

Amir Abdullahian and Lavrov met on the sidelines of the Afghanistan Summit in Tunisia, China, on Wednesday.

During a meeting with Lavrov, Amir Abdullahian said: “Tehran opposes the imposition of sanctions and unilateral measures against Russia, and at the same time welcomes the progress of political talks on Ukraine.”

“We are pleased that Iran-Russia relations are on the right track,” he said, expressing satisfaction with the meeting with Lavrov, which took place a few weeks after their recent meeting in Moscow. I want to emphasize once again that we oppose the imposition of sanctions and unilateral measures against Russia.

“I have been informed that progress is being made in the developments in Ukraine towards political dialogue,” Amir Abdullahian told Lavrov. I hope to keep you informed on various topics in tonight’s conversations and to hear the latest developments from you.

The Russian Foreign Minister also expressed satisfaction with the meeting and added: “We are interested in increasing comprehensive cooperation in all fields with our neighbors, especially Iran.”

“In relations with our neighbors and friends, we’re trying ‘to condemn these unilateral and illegal sanctions in the first place and, secondly, to take effective action,” he said.

On the sidelines of the Afghan-hosted summit in Afghanistan, the Iranian Foreign Minister also met with the Foreign Ministers of Pakistan, Qatar, Indonesia and Turkmenistan.
